Tooled Up

The professional plumber has many tools in his or her toolbox, to deal with any eventuality. Here are just a few of those tools: The Hacksaw is quite versatile and can cut through metal pipework, hardware, screws, nuts and bolts and also plastic piping. The blade is tense in the frame for tough cuts, and a set of spare blades should always be kept. If the plumber is waorking in a tight spot, one end of a loose blade can be wrapped in cloth to make a handle and the blade can then be slipped the blade in to do the cutting.?Great tool and carried by a Muswell Hill Plumber. The Metal File is great for removing burrs and smoothing the edges of metal pipework after they have been cut. The plumber will carry at least, one half-round, which has a round and flat surface, and one that is both round and tapered.?Basin Wrenches are invaluable for tightening and also undoing nuts that hold sink taps in place. The tool has a long shaft and swivelling jaw that reaches up and into the deep, narrow spaces behind a sink. No other tool is really as flexible and is a great addition to the plumbers tool box.?Muswell Hill Plumbers carry the correct tools. Wood Chisels are great for setting pipework into wooden joists. They are really good for cutting holes into plasterboard. They can be used with a hammer, goggles and dust mask. Chain Wrenches are devices with a handle, a jaw with teeth and chain that grip pipes and larger nuts. The chain wraps over the item to be turned. The chain engages and the toothed jaw levers. It is a really useful tool for working on old pipework. Spirit Levels are a must for making sure fixtures and fittings are level. They are available in many different form, but they all work in the exact same way. The most common is the small wooden version with the level fixed in the middle.
